AS BRAVE AS A LION.–

At the fight at Scarytown, Va., the soldier John Haven was wounded. He was a handsome, intelligent young man, as brave as a lion, and the pet of the company. Poor fellow! his right hip was shot away just as he was passing a ball to his gun. When his Captain saw him fall, he ran and picked him up, and conveyed him in his own arms to a place of safety. “Never mind me, Captain,” he cried; “but don’t let that flag go down!”
