Be aware that there may be words, phrases and statements from within the pages of “Civil War – In Song & Story” that may be found offensive to the reader. It was written in a time when authors and their audiences were a lot less sensitive. We wish it were otherwise. In spite of its faults we believe the overall value of this book should serve as a looking glass into the past of our American Republic. It’s a rare glimpse into a very sad and bloody era that ultimately paved the way for a more generous and kind spirit on both sides of the Mason and Dixon lines.
